What it is:
Summaries of selected practices from various contributors that are designed to provide an overview of how IT professionals solve critical issues and address IT priorities - whether through policy or technology. Each Best Practice is an at-a-glance view of the lessons learned.

Instructions:
- Fill in each section/question below. If a question doesn't apply to your Best Practice, please enter "not applicable".
- If this is not a personal experience, provide a usable contact within your client base that will provide verification that they have deployed your product and found your information to be accurate. If willing, this client may speak on the record as a testimonial. (E-mail address is preferable.)



* Required fields
* The challenge: Briefly describe the problem, task, or corporate goal that led you to seek this solution (One sentence or less).
* The company: Provide the name and/or description, industry, etc. of the company that used this Best Practice.
* The solution: If applicable, provide the name of the product that was used to resolve the challenge.
* What you did/How it worked: Provide a concrete example of how the technology met your or the company's needs. (2-3 paragraphs maximum)
* Rules for success: What things were critical to the success of the project?
* Classic mistakes: Provide the top five things to watch out for when implementing this technology/solution with a short description for each.
* Three must-ask questions: What questions are important to ask before undertaking this project or implementing this technology solution?
* Who's a candidate? At what point does it make sense for companies to look at this type of product? (ie. What company size is this geared for? Industry, etc.)
* Final takeaway: Is there anything else an IT professional must know before considering a similar project?
* Please provide contact info that we may use in the case we need to follow-up with any questions we may have before posting this Best Practice to the ITworld.com site. (This will not be published.)
