Machine builders and their end users don’t have time to waste. The builders must construct equipment to meet precise specifications and provide specific and often unique capabilities, and they usually have to do it on very tight schedules. As a result, neither builders nor end users have any need for additional machine features unless they’re absolutely necessary. Machine builders and end users sometimes are criticized for being slow to adopt new technologies, but their focus is on keeping their machines and production lines operating, meaning they have little or no time for novelties.
